I have written about Walmart before but I have a different thought and question. Letās start off with the good.The ability to sell direct and join a consolidator to get the benefit of full truck loads shipped sounds great. And even better, usually not just 100-200 doors as Walmart typically does a larger launch.And no promosā¦. Even better!!! Without the ability to discount and have that nice pretty, yellow and red/blue discount tag flash amongst your eyes (Iām color blind but I think Iām close!, how do you gain trial as a new brand?????The number one thing I have found to be challenging is marketing at Walmart. I know they have some of their direct programs, but if your a mature brand without a National, known presence, how do people know you exist across the country?Would love for everyone to share with me effective marketing strategies at Walmart / a wholistic plan. My calendar today:Our team meets with the general managers of all the stores who have broadcast (tv and/or radio) at the beginning of each month. Stores that are digital only we meet with later in the week to protect our sanity.We talk about:Last monthCompetitorsInventory trends and pipelineUsed carsCurrent month incentives Coop programsGroup wide initiativesAdvertising goalsSocial contentDigital advertising areas of focusAnd more!Itās a great opportunity to build relationships with some of our store leaders who we might not see all the time. It also has the benefit of keeping the marketing side of the business closer to the sales side. It forces us to look at the sales numbers, market share, month to month type metrics and really listen to the challenges and opportunities our stores face.As the group grows in size and scale, staying close to the front lines becomes harder.While back to back to back zooms can make for a somewhat long day, the coffee and food deliveries help ; )#teamwestherr šPeople > Everything

It has to stick. When it comes to announcing a big retail launch or promo, brands need content that sticks in consumers' minds, making it easy for them to grab your product when they're shopping.Yes, brands should be telling their fans where to find them via social, and a simple announcement is a good starting place.What you don't want is for the consumer to remember their favorite brand recently announced a new retail partnership and then not be able to remember which retailer it was, scrolling through endless Instagram posts to find it.What you DO want is for the post or ad to stick in the consumer's mind as [YOUR BRAND] at [RETAILER]. So before making your next retail announcement, stop and think: What makes your brand and this retailer special? Even better, what makes your brand a market fit for this retailer?When our client wanted to support their Walmart partnership, we wanted to focus on what makes Walmart special. One iconic Walmart experience? The Walmart greeter.
