1. Emergency Couple (2014)
Emergency Couple is a medical rom-com series that tells the story of Oh Chang Min and Oh Jin Hee who are both medical school students. They fell in love and got married in their early twenties despite of family’s opposition. They were a lovey-dovey married couple at first but when challenges and misunderstandings tested their marriage, they were not that strong to overcome it and eventually get a divorce. 6 years later their path crosses again as interns at the same hospital.
This drama is one of my favorite rom-com series! I really love the comical and romantic chemistry of Song Ji Hyo and Choi Jin Hyuk here. If you love dramas about breaking up and getting back together, Emergency Couple is perfect for you!
2. Fated to Love You (2014)
The drama depicts a comical love story between Lee Gun, a successor of a large company, and Kim Mi Young, an average-looking secretary in a law firm. It all starts when their paths cross one night and they end up sleeping with each other. Afterward, Kim Mi Young finds out that she is pregnant.
Choi Jin Hyuk plays the role of Kim Tae Ho/Daniel Pitt here. He is a Korean American designer who becomes Mi Young’s Daddy-Long-Legs who always comes to her rescue, helping her in times of need. You’ll get second lead syndrome with Choi Jin Hyuk’s role here. I must say that this drama is one of the best dramas that you definitely shouldn’t miss!
3. Devilish Charm (2018)
Devilish Charm depicts the story of a brilliant doctor, Gong Ma Sung who suffers from “Cinderella Memory Disorder,” a condition wherein his memory only lasts for a day. His path crosses with an actress named Joo Gi Bbeum who was once popular, but her career suddenly falls apart due to false charges. Ma Sung and Gi Bbeum fall in love however, their love faces obstacles due to Ma Sung’s unusual medical condition. Will they be able to conquer it together?
This is one of those underrated dramas that really deserves a lot of hype. I watched this drama not only because of Choi Jin Hyuk but also because I was drawn to its unique plot. You’ll see a lot of charms of Jin Hyuk here which will surely make you fall in love with it.
4. The Last Empress (2018)
A thriller rom-com drama that depicts the story of an aspiring musical actress named, Oh Sunny who becomes the empress of a modern-day monarch. She eventually gets entangled with the corruption and the dark secrets of the imperial family.
What I love about this drama is the fact that Jin Hyuk and Na Ra reunite through this series. From being Jang Na Ra‘s Daddy-Long-legs in Fated to Love You to being the bodyguard who protects her here. The Last Empress is such a masterpiece! Watch this series and get swooned with Choi Jin Hyuk’s charm in every action sequence.
5. Zombie Detective (2020)
Zombie Detective follows the story of a man named Kim Moo Young who finds himself a zombie after waking up with no memories of his past. To survive and get along with humans, he tries hard to do what humans do. Moo Young meets Kong Sun Ji, a former investigative journalist. Together, they will solve cases and the mystery behind zombies.
From its first episode up to the last, there were no dull moments. The iconic BB cream is one of the funny scenes. Choi Jin Hyuk is such a cutie here. Zombie Detective will definitely entertain you and make you laugh hard. I really love this drama so much!
6. Miss Night and Day (2024)
Miss Night and Day is a fantasy rom-com series that tells the story of Lee Mi Jin, a job seeker who’s been struggling to get a job for a long time. She suddenly finds herself in a mysterious situation where she turns into a 50-year-old during the day and transforms back to her 20s at night. Her path crosses to a workaholic prosecutor and they become lovers.
You’ll love this drama as much as I do! It has a perfect blend of rom-com and mystery that will blow your mind. Eun Ji, Jung Eun, Jin Hyuk, and other side character’s different charms in this series are one of the reasons why this series is definitely unmissable.
